Harry Poter In Numbers

The author of Harry Potter, J.K. Rowling, is estimated to be worth $1.1 billion and is richer than Queen Elizabeth.

* The British edition of 7th book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, is 608 pages long. The super-sized U.S. edition is 784 pages.

* Worldwide sales of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows have topped 300,000,000 copies.

* The books have been translated into 66 other languages, including Serbian, ancient Greek and Chinese.

* 500 copies of the first edition, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, were published by Bloomsbury in 1997. Surviving copies now change hands at up to $40,000 a copy.

* Rowling’s fifth book, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoneix, sold 6,900,000 copies in 24 hours - more than The Da Vinci Code sold in a year.

* Of the four Harry Potter films released to date, three are in the Top 10 of worldwide box office receipts.

* There are more than 400 licensed Harry Potter products, including video games and an iPod.
